SBYHN (School Based Youth Health Nurse)
The Youth Health Nurse is an employee of Queensland Health. They are
in the school Mondays and alternate Thursdays. The Youth Health Nurse works with
young people to promote health and wellbeing and connects people with other
support services. The Youth Health Nurse can provide information on:
· Healthy eating and physical activity
· Feeling unhappy or stressed
· Relationships
· Healthy skin
· Sexual health
· Smoking, alcohol and other drugs
· Personal and family problems
· Growth and development
Young people have a right to confidentiality when accessing health
services. As a health service provider the Youth Health Nurse respects this but
there are some things that the nurse must refer or act upon. Please discuss
what can be expected and confidentiality at the time of your appointment. The
SBYHN service is voluntary and works by drop in by students or referral from
the Guidance Officer. He can
