Certificate II in Tourism & Customer Engagement

The study of a Certificate II in Tourism and a Certificate II in Customer Engagement provides opportunities for students to discover new and exciting destinations and activities and broaden their understanding of customer related environments.
Students will develop their knowledge of the tourism industry, new products available around the world and exciting global events. Studying both local and international destinations, students will engage with tourism products and services that excited and create a passion for innovation. With a focus on the tourism industry, students will also use the skills they learn in the classroom to practice their entrepreneurial skills through working with customers within the school community.
Using real world simulations and virtual reality technologies, students will develop their skills ready for the workforce. This is completed through a range of research activities, tasks requiring multiple communication styles, and working effectively with their peers and within the school community. Projects include a travel magazine, a "Travel for Dummies" guidebook, product presentations, online blogs, and business stalls throughout the year.
Students will demonstrate their skills throughout the course through traditional written responses and multimodal presentations as well as through real world experience assisting with school community events, engaging with the industry by participating in excursions as well as completing work experience with tourism organisations such as SeaWorld Nara Resort on the Gold Coast.
PATHWAYS
This course provides the students with an array of real world work ready skills. A course of study in Tourism provides a pathway to work in many tourism and travel industry sectors and for a diverse range of employers including travel agencies, tour wholesales, tour operators, attractions, cultural and heritage sites, and any small tourism business. Through also studying Customer Engagement this course provides students with the skills ready to work in any customer related environment making them more desirable to potential employers. Possible job titles from completing these combined courses included, but are not limited to, travel agent, a musuem attendant, office assistant, receptionist, conference organiser, event manager, entrepreneur, and a retail sales assistant.
If students would like to pursue further study in Tourism or Customer Engagement after school, each course respectively has a Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diplomas available that can be studied through TAFE and any other registered training organisations that offer those qualifications.
