Certificate III in Science

The study of Certificate III Science will engage students with the literacy, numeracy, technical skills, technology and safe working practices required in scientific industries. The outcomes in the course will support other Science subjects. Students who have an interest in an indstry that involves scientific practices or laboratory skills will be best suited to this course.
Assessment in this course is competency based. Competency based assessment is a process of collecting evidence and making judgements on whether or not the students can demonstrate knowledge and skills at an industry standard. Students will only be signed off by the teacher when they are deemed competent as per the criteria of the unit.
RECOMMENDED PRE-REQUISITES
To enrol in this course students are expected to have overall satisfactory results in Year 7-10 Science.
PATHWAYS
A course of study in Certificate III Science may qualify students to work in various industries such as Science Laboratories, Meat Industry, Medical Laboratories. Furthermore, enrolment in this course will contribute to ATAR outcomes for students seeking further education and tertiary outcomes.
It is anticipated that this course will complement any studies with Senior Sciences such as Biology, Psychology, Physics or Chemistry. The skills developed in this course will be directly compatible with these subjects and vice versa.
Any students wishing to study University Science is strongly urged to complete this course.
